The Curriculum and Activities
  The school is well recognised nationally, not just for its students, but also for its broad curriculum. There are many different classes offered, including those in:

  • Irish

  • English

  • Math

  • Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Biology,Computers)

  • Commerce

  • Geography

  • History

  • Music

  • Technical Graphics

  • Woodwork

  • P.E. - Football, Hurling, Camogie, Basketball

  • Religion

  Extra curricular activities include Debating, Drama and Athletics
  There are no on-campus facilities or dormitories,excluding a tuck shop as the school is attended mainly by local people. The Science department is particularly efficient with Finbarr O' Leary one of the countries authorities in the Agricultural Science field, Margaret Cooper noted for her excellent results, Jim Gaul and Diarmaid Hickey well versed in Honours Physics and Rob lotty, with valuable international teaching experience, an authority on Biology. The 189 school days (from September 1st to June 6th) begin at 9 a.m. and finish at 4 pm. except on Thursdays and Fridays, when the days end at 3.20pm. There are many holidays celebrated including Christmas, Easter and St.Patrick's day.
  The curriculum is the National Irish curriculum. Every student completes a Junior Certificate(equivalent to General Certificate of Secondary Education or GCSE) and a Leaving Certificate (equivalent to International Baccalaureaute or I.B.) in June, when they have completed the respective courses. Those students interested in pursuing further education attend UCC, Cork institute of Technology, UCG or any of the national third level institutes.
